Alternative Cameras Are Fun | New York Child and Family Photographer

This month’s blog carousel topic is “Alternative Cameras”. I’ve lost count of just how many cameras I have…I have a collection of antique cameras, polaroids, film cameras, toy cameras like Holgas, all of my Canon digital cameras, and even my iphone 4S. The official workhorses are the Canon 1DMark iv, the 5D Mark ii, and the standbys are the original 5D, the 1DMarkiiN and the 20D. All have and do serve me well. My latest toy has been the Fuji Instax. My heart dropped at the news of saying good bye to Polaroids. Here comes the Instax. Instant mini prints! Relatively inexpensive and tons of fun! Great for the kids as well:)  If you’d like to check one out, you can find one right here on amazon.

For some more blog fun on alternative cameras, hop on over to my friend Dana Bowes Treadwell, Calgary’s baby, child and family photographer.

I remember how fun the polaroid cameras was when growing up. The excitement to “instantly” see the developed photograph and the eager wait from when the photo was just grey until it developed and showed the colors. So fun to see the alternative to the beloved polaroid. I may have to consider one of these for my family. Love the variety you shared!

What fun photos, Dawn. I had never heard of this camera until now. Looks like fun.

I love these little Fujis, they take fun photos. I love the tricycle shot and raspberry shot most – the color red is picked up beautifully by that little marvel.

Ooooh, I like the results. I have put off buying this camera, but it seems like so much fun, not sure how much longer I can resist it.

Oh my, what memories! I even used polaroids with my art classes when I was a teacher. I’m not sure if the sheer amazement and wonder would be there for my kids now (with the instant gratification of digital) but I think I’m going to get one of those intax cameras! thanks for the link!
